Engineer, Quality (Software)
Quality Engineering Responsibilities
  • Develop procedures from various industry and aerospace specifications
  • Represent Quality for Programs / Customers
  • Review Drawings- flow down, best practices
  • Acceptance Data Package Preparation/ Review
  • Support Audits - Customer / Internal
  • Support customer inquiries, including requests for warranty support, lead corrective action activities
  • Work internally and externally to develop Risk Analysis and Mitigation plans
  • Promote the use of Quality tools, SPC, PFMEA, and MSA to reduce variability
  • Actively participate in cost reduction programs/initiatives related to scrap, rework and repair activities.
Software Quality Engineering Responsibilities
  • Review design test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures
  • Document software defects and report defects to the software developers
  • Identify, analyze, and document problems with program function, output, online screen, or content
  • Monitor regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability
  • Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems
  • Document compliance with software standards
  • Monitor bug resolution efforts and track successes
  • Review software documentation to ensure technical accuracy, compliance, or completeness, and/or to mitigate risks
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to developers on software usability and functionality
  • Create or maintain databases of known test defects
  • Monitor program performance to ensure efficient and problem-free operations
  • Identify program deviance from standards and suggest modifications to ensure compliance
  • Develop or specify standards, methods, or procedures to determine product quality or release readiness
  • Investigate customer problems referred by technical support
  • Conduct historical analyses of test results
  • Review configuration files, logs, or code pieces to determine breakdown source
  • Evaluate or recommend software for testing or bug tracking
  • Coordinate Customer testing
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other applicable Engineering degree
  • 2+ years of Software Coding experience
  • Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong documentation and writing skills
  • Ability to work closely with a team of engineers and technicians and comfortable in laboratory environment
  • Must be a US Citizen
Desired:
  • Development experience in C, C++, Java, Python and other software programming languages
  • Experience participating in or leading Peer Reviews
  • Familiarity with CMMI and Software Best Practices
  • Familiarity with Software Safety Criticality, MIL-STD-882E, JSSSE Handbook, and NATO AOP-52
  • Familiarity with MISRA C (and related tools) and LDRA tools
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers, DSPs, and assembly language
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience with software development using a formal Software Development Life Cycle process (SDLC)
  • Experience with software regression testing and performing software verification and validation
  • Experience debugging embedded systems (jtag, emulators)
Work Environment:
This job interacts in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners/copier machine, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
Some travel may be required for this position (5-10%)
