What You Will Do:

Gannett Fleming has partnered with transit and transportation agencies across North America, with the mission to connect communities and deliver sustainable and innovative transit programs that promote equity in the built environment.

As aTraction Power Designer, you will join a dynamic team and work alongside experienced engineers to perform technical evaluation and designs for a wide variety of traction power designs and related infrastructure. May be required to work along an active railroad or transit system with client-provided protection.

In this entry level role, you will have the opportunity to continue your professional development and be mentored by a team of nationally recognized project managers and senior technical staff.

This is a hybrid position located in our New York City, NY office. Will consider Spring 2024 graduates.

As an entry level designer, you will be expected to:

  • Prepare plans and details with limited complexity in support of broader engineering activities involving the design of transit & rail infrastructure projects.
  • Gather, organize, and maintain information to serve as basis for design, cost estimating, or verification of work in place.
  • Develop 3D models and to develop construction plans using CADD.
  • Review vendor drawings to assure compliance with specifications.
  • Support the development of studies and technical reports or sections of reports.
  • Research other projects or programs and interfaces with clients to gather information; develop written and graphic reports of findings.
  • Minimal interface with clients, data collection, attendance at meetings is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education | Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Desire to work in or knowledge of the consulting engineering profession
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to independently travel and be physically present in the office or at a client site
  • Working knowledge of design software; such as, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is beneficial
