Position Description

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated candidate for a Research Technician position in the Tonks Lab.

Position Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be available for immediate start, have strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, and appreciate the necessity for attention to detail in all aspects of the position. The successful candidate will work alongside others on an ongoing project, and will provide assistance with bench work and animal research. Responsibilities will include PCRs, IHC staining, and Western Blots. Applicants must be comfortable with rodent handling. Responsibilities in the animal facility will include administering injections (intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, oral gavage, etc.), performing behavioral assays (Rotarod, Grip Strength), and dissections for downstream tissue analysis. The technician will also assist with animal colony maintenance and organization, as well as general lab maintenance, supply inventory and procurement.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences
EXPERIENCE: The candidate should have prior experience working in a molecular biology, cell biology laboratory, or chemistry laboratory.
SKILLS: Self-motivation, organizational skills and immaculate record-keeping.

The salary range for this role is $45,000 - 50,000 The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
