Finance Manager of Firm Controllership

Who You'll Work With
You will join the firm controllership group as a Manager of Firm Controllership of 4-5 legal entities in US and Canada.
You will report directly to North America Director of Firm Controllership and will be responsible to ensure high-quality, accurate, timely and transparent financial reporting, ensure compliance with US GAAP and other finance policies/standards, manage the accounting/ data for management reporting, working closely with the Operations leaders to improve financial and administrative processes and operational effectiveness.
There is flexibility to hire at the Manager or Senior Manager level, depending on your experience.
What You'll Do
You will be the first line of defense to ensure policy compliance and good internal controls environment to manage financial risks.
You will be accountable for US GAAP books of accounts for 4-5 legal entities in the US and Canada, including all core areas of accounting and operations (supported by a group of yellow/green band colleagues, who will work closely with Global Ops): payroll, vendor payments, expense reimbursement, LAAS & cash management, balance sheet and month end close review, revenue and accounts receivable. You will ensure compliance with finance policies and standards, including managing excess cash investment, external financial reporting/disclosures, ensuring working capital adequacy.
You will provide oversight to the operations team to ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness; including providing updates to changes in local rules (e.g. withholding tax rates, exchange controls etc.). You will also manage other compliances e.g. corporate withholding tax filings, payroll tax, social security, benefit in kind tax, insurance requirements. You will be enabling statutory reporting, VAT compliance and performance reporting through capturing the right level of details in accounting and other data sources. You will be the signatory to any financial representations to external auditors, banks, vendors, tax authorities or other regulatory bodies.
You will be an expert in 1-2 functional areas of operations/accounting to work alongside Global Ops to share best practices across regions.
Qualifications
  • Accounting or finance degree (CPA or CA preferred)
  • 10+ years accounting or finance experience
  • Strong understanding of general accounting concepts (US GAAP or IFRS) with an ability to perform technical accounting research
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with strong ability to adapt to changing environments and prioritizing tasks
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to direct others and manage multiple people and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to quickly grasp the range of complex issues, see a problem from multiple sides, logically work through the issues, and find creative yet practical solutions
  • Strong integrity, maturity and fairness in dealing with people and confidential information
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel and Power point; SAP a plus
