Job Description

Position: Senior Reliability Engineer

Primary Location: Home-based position

Shift: Salaried - Monday to Friday - 40 hours/week; Overtime needed as per business needs and training objectives.

Reports to: Reliability Engineering - Water-Manufacturing

Compensation: $134,000 - $148,000 + Benefits + Bonus

The US salary for this position is $134,000 - $148,000 + benefits + bonus. Salaried rates are determined by role, level, and location. The salaried rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific rate factors for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process, as some facilities are subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements. Please note that the compensation details listed in the US roles postings reflect the hourly rate only, and do not include benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives such as overtime and shift premiums.

About this Role and About You

The Senior Reliability Engineer establishes and maintains standards of "Best Practice" for multiple manufacturing site maintenance functions across all North American operations. Best Practice standards reflect corporate objectives, Responsible Care principles, and Mechanical Integrity requirements.

Qualifications

Knowledge

    Minimum 10 years of experience with mechanical integrity, predictive maintenance, preventive maintenance, and maintenance management in chemical process manufacturing plants.
  • Accredited 4-year degree in appropriate engineering/technical discipline.

Competencies

  • Specific experience related to reliability management in the fields of rotating equipment, boilers and burners, industrial refrigeration, corrosion prevention applications, life cycle analysis applications, process control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards applicable to maintenance activities in a chemical process environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of ASME, ASTM and other relevant standards for process equipment.
  • Knowledge of Responsible Care Codes. Demonstrated commitment to employee health and safety.
  • Must be able to travel within US and Canada up to 50-75%.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in development and implementation of Mechanical integrity program that will become the standard for all production facilities including but not limited to pressure equipment, piping, tanks, boilers, heaters, and rotating equipment.
  • Develops Asset and Spare Part Criticality Rankings and maintenance strategies based on FMEA's and best practices
  • Reviews and updates maintenance practices and procedures, including predictive and preventive maintenance programs, Total Productive Maintenance Planning and Scheduling and communicates these requirements clearly, to all sites. Supports sites in their efforts to attain "best practice" capability in their maintenance functions.
  • Audits maintenance functions at all sites vs. best practice standard. Prepares, distributes, and analyzes audit results. Supports Plant Turn Around/Inspections, Consults/Manages NDE Manage Change. Prioritizes opportunities identified and leads efforts to capitalize on those opportunities. Takes corrective action as necessary to ensure adoption of corporate standard practices.
  • Establishes standards for measuring and reporting operational reliability as a reflection of maintenance function effectiveness. Identifies and addresses areas for opportunity.
  • Periodically reviews site operations/equipment and produces a reliability risk assessment. Utilizes risk management to produce short- and long-range capital plans. Acts as primary coordinator for capital planning program(s).
  • Participates in capital project design and execution as appropriate to ensure consistency of new installations with Chemtrade maintenance standards and practices.
  • Participates on special project teams. Attends personal development training. Other duties as assigned by Chemtrade management.
  • Coaches' managers, supervisors, and employees in maintenance Best Practices. Promotes cross-site cooperation and teamwork. Analyzes technical maintenance capabilities at each site and supports management in efforts to close gaps.

  • Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision.
  • Employee must be physically capable of spending long hours outdoors and occasionally work in protected clothing and equipment.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders (including vertical).
  • Must be "fit for duty".

Work Environment

Must be able to perform under the following conditions:

  • Work in awkward or confining workspaces.
  • Work in elevated places.
  • Work in outdoor environment.
  • Work in noisy environment.
  • Work in areas that are dusty and have some odor from chemicals and etc.
  • Safety is a job requirement.
  • Able to work in Adverse Weather Conditions.
  • Must be capable of spending long hours outdoors on your feet and occasionally work in protective clothing and equipment such as: rain suits, face shields, hoods, and etc.
