Job Description

Provides guidance to analyze, identify and provide pre-award and non-financial post-award assistance to the employees in obtaining and managing sponsored awards. Disseminates funding agency guidelines and funding opportunity information. Maintains Grants Management software system. Coordinates complex initiative applications and contract submissions. Collaborates with the leadership to develop and implement grants management operating procedures.

Job Responsibility

  • Provides guidance to analyze, identify and prepare new, non-competing/competing continuation grant applications and other progress reports.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders and departments to coordinate complex initiative applications and contract submissions; meets regularly with the leadership to review funding needs and potential funding opportunities.
  • Develops and conducts grants management workshops and seminars.
  • Reviews proposals and contracts for feasibility and compliance with funding agency guidelines and organization policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the review and negotiation of investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trial agreements; collaborates with internal stakeholders to negotiate contract modifications.
  • Collaborates with institutions to ensure compliance with federally mandated sub-recipient monitoring requirements; works directly with sponsor to resolve complex issues.
  • Issues and negotiates terms and conditions on prime, cooperative, sub-award and subcontract research-related agreements; ensures grants and contracts are processed in a timely manner.
  • Monitors all phases of grant and contact awards to ensure compliance with Federal regulations, financial requirements, and sponsor and institutional guidelines; collaborates with Grants Financial Specialist to ensure financial compliance and proper accounting of externally and internally sponsored funds. Conducts 'Kick-Off' meetings with stakeholders to review and discuss the terms of award, roles and responsibilities, and schedule of deliverables; conducts review meetings with same to ensure compliance with terms of award; conducts Close-Out meetings with same to ensure timely submission of final reports or requests for no-cost extensions.
  • Operates under limited guidance and work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Job Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, required.
  • Certified Research Administrator, preferred.
  • 3-5 years of NIH Grant experience, preferred.
