Job Description

The Sensory Product Design Operations Support Co-op is responsible for maintaining product and material inventory for the Sensory R&D Product Design department at the Boston Brewery. The position will be responsible for ensuring R&D samples are shipped and delivered to Sensory partner facilities and BBC coworkers in a timely manner, and maintaining Sensory labs.

Required Experience and Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experience with digital database/filing systems and workflow management software is a plus
  • Experience working in hospitality, production, warehouse, and/or laboratory environments is a plus
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proven success multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • High degree of ownership and professional commitment
Physical Requirements
  • Must practice safe work methods and comply with wearing and using the proper PPE 100% of the time on the floor and always work in a safe manner
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. repetitively throughout the shift
Working Conditions
  • Tolerate summer/winter temperature conditions and hot and cold in production environment
  • Must be comfortable in a warehouse and production environment, including the use of brewery cleaning chemicals
  • While performing the duties of this job, regularly required to endure on a daily basis: walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, and crouching

Responsibilities:

Inventory Management

  • Manage product inventory - intake, catalogue, and maintain inventory of samples delivered to the Boston-based Product Design R&D team from production facilities and partners
  • Utilize pallet jacks (and forklift if certified) as required to keep samples organized
  • Maintain inventory of competitor products for use in development activities
  • Develop and update inventory and related SOPs

Shipping and Logistics Coordination

  • Execute all Product Design R&D shipment requests for Boston locations, including product samples to consumer testing facilities and vendors, and all freight shipments
  • Support receiving activities at the Boston Brewery
  • Communicate and document shipment information utilizing established systems
  • Coordinate samples between Boston Beer locations to support Product Design R&D testing
  • Assist with product procurement of competitor products

Building and Office Management Support

  • Support company cross-location company culture initiatives
  • Maintain proper inventory levels as needed for: Product Design R&D lab spaces, shipping and warehousing needs, and all office supplies
  • Ensure all kitchen supplies, snacks, and beverages are restocked as needed
  • Oversee upkeep common spaces and ensure cleanliness standards are met
  • Point of contact for consolidated supply and material ordering from selected vendors
  • Assist Strategic Operations team members to ensure all building needs are met, including but not limited to: IT systems, security, and general building services

Product Design R&D Team Member

  • Assist with planning and execution of high-level tastings
  • Assist with event planning and execution for Product Design R&D department
  • Assist as needed with internal testing at all Boston Beer facilities as coordinated by the Strategic Operations team

General Responsibilities

  • Communicate concise informative reports on total inventory
  • Proactively identify opportunities to create efficiencies
  • Promote high level of achievement within a professional work environment
  • Ensure compliance with GMP and Food Safety protocols
  • Develop excellent interdepartmental relationships with key stakeholders
  • Liaise with other co-op functions throughout Product Design R&D to enhance collaboration and ensure department needs are met

Observe and practice all Department/Brewery Procedures - including wearing proper PPE, safety, and sanitation equipment as required
