However, the potential for discrimination - intentional or not - is something that everyone should be aware of when weeding out a candidate or favoring one. Joe Gerstandt, a diversity and inclusion speaker and author, warns individuals in charge of hiring to check their personal bias blind spots. He explains to Tim Muma how and why unfair perceptions hurt the company, lead to poor decisions, and could create legal issues when bringing in talent.
